London’s Luton Airport is comfortably among the top ten busiest airports in the United Kingdom. As a major hub for no frills, low cost airlines in Europe, cheap flights from Luton Airport are often more frequent to other UK and European destinations than from other airports in the UK.

Among the low cost carriers at Luton are those that are household names in Europe, including Ryanair and EasyJet. EasyJet’s main hub is Luton Airport. As its main rival Ryanair and other carriers are also at the airport, it is not unusual to find cheap flights from Luton Airport as they are often competitively priced. This is often the case if a new carrier sets up an operation there in direct competition with one of the other airlines. Ryanair has often employed… Continue reading

As we had promised ourselves we visited Pezenas today. Saturdays are always market day there and the atmosphere is buzzing .It does not matter what time of the year it is there is something going on. Today there was a local band and many people stopped to listen to them. Those that did not actually stop certainly had a lighter spring in their step as they walked passed.

One of the shops that we like to visit while we are in Pezenas is the English Bookshop. The lady there is always welcoming and helpful. Books are not the only thing on sale in the shop she also gets shipped over from the U.K. some of the things that the ex-pats miss. It probably sounds pathetic when I tell you some of… Continue reading

If you’re thinking of a winter trip abroad, recent developments in the foreign exchange markets might make it a better bet to take a short break in Europe instead of the US. Last week The Guardian reported that the weakening pound will, along with retailers and airlines, cause prospective holiday makers to be more selective with their destinations than they may have been a year ago.

It seems that trips to the US are the least appealing at the moment with the Pound currently being worth a measly $1.54 - a kind of rate that hasn’t been seen for five years. This means that since last year alone the pound has declined 22.33%.

Today, many European destinations seem far more enticing to the British traveller despite the Pound still losing its might… Continue reading

Tips to Save Money on Holiday 3

Nov-3-2008 By travel

In order to make the most of your holiday budget next year you will need to cut back on general costs, this does not necessarily mean you need to find a cheaper hotel or cut back on activities. Save money by cutting back the unneeded things when you travel abroad.

Cannibalise the excursions deals - holiday providers offer family excursions for very high prices, with enough research you can enjoy the same experience for almost half the amount. Find out if you can rent a car and pay separately into the attraction.

Book theme park tickets separately - again, you will be charged additional charges if you book through the tour operator, in some cases you can save over ?0 for a family of four.

Eat breakfast out - some hotels in the… Continue reading

The Travel Customer is King

Oct-24-2008 By travel

If there’s one upside to a downturn, it’s that the consumer suddenly has new power: it’s a buyer’s market. Paradoxically, the eve of a recession might be just the time to consider that long-promised long weekend away because now, more than ever, those hard-pressed hotels want your business. So, in this season of mists, mellow fruitfulness and monetary meltdown, hunt around for a bargain.

Luxury hotels may not slash their rates by half, but there will be special seasonal offers and they’ll often reduce their guests’ bills in other ways such as free room upgrades, free meals or free spa treatments. The mantra is: Don’t Hesitate to Negotiate.

Many websites are now offering special offers and packages. In Paris for example, Le Meurice, which has a fine location on the fashionable rue… Continue reading

Prior to 1810 the Paris catacombs were known as Paris’ Montrouge stone quarries. As with any large city graveyards began to quickly run out of burial space thus an alternative means of disposing of bodies was necessary. The various sides of these bone piles possess designs which have been arranged with the skulls in a sort of pattern.

Existing twenty meters underground one can find over 6 million former residents of Paris on exhibit. Among these bones of the deceased are many illustrated texts which create a macabre atmosphere while describe countless chilling events in the chronicles of Paris. It is here… Continue reading

If you’ve seen any of the latest developments in passenger jets then chances are you’ll know about the enormous A380, the giant of the skies. The A380 can seat 450 people in varying degrees of prestige from economy, premium economy, business class and first-class.

The size of this aircraft is a sight to behold with it nearly being the full length of a football pitch; the wingspan would easily poke into the seating of a football stadium too. The A380 has three floors to it with a full length middle floor housing the majority of the seating; a stair case toward the front of the plane ascends to the first-class floor.

The lower floor is expected to be set aside by many airlines as cargo storage but some plans being formulated by… Continue reading
