Getting Healthier in Paradise at a Costa Rica Yoga and Wellness Retreat Center
Throughout the last few years, a new generation of vacationers has been demanding more from hotels and resorts than before, and a new type of travel has become very popular.
This type of tourist wants to get more out of a vacation than just sightseeing, and so the trend has been hotels offering yoga and/or wellness.
Yoga and Wellness Retreat Centers are becoming a popular alternative to standard hotels throughout tropical climates like Costa Rica and Hawaii.
Costa Rica towns that focus on tourism, such as Montezuma or Santa Teresa in the southern Nicoya Peninsula, have multiple hotels to learn yoga, and the hotels and retreat centers compete over which is able to provide the best space.
Places such as Anamaya or Ylang Ylang in Montezuma have a large wooden deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean, fulfilling every yoga enthusiast’s expectation about what tropical paradise will look like on their vacation. This type of yoga deck is very photogenic, and this helps a hotel or retreat center to succeed in getting guests, becaus so many travelers choose their vacation accommodations based mostly from the photos of the places they hope to go to.
Since so many yoga teachers have visited Costa Rica for yoga retreats, many have of course fallen in love with the country and some have stayed permanently. Now some work at various hotels in Costa Rica, or offer private classes at Costa Rica beach house rentals.
Because of this influx of skilled yoga teachers into Costa Rica, the tourist towns, such as Santa Teresa a variety of yoga options. While it’s not always true, the men go surfing and the girls do yoga.
There’s also a new variety of travel accommodation, referred to as a Wellness Hotel. These places usually offer Yoga as part of a holistic program dedicated to their guests’ overall health. A program will usually include healthy elements such as meditation, nutritional counseling, vegetarian or vegan diet, and a colonic irrigation treatment.
Travelers who vacation for a week or so at a Wellness Resort often discover that not only are they more happy and relaxed, but they take back what they’ve learned about their overall health and well-being, and so they continue their new improved lifestyles back home.
Some of the wellness retreats offer a program in detox, and that usually starts with a dietary fast. many varieties, but often it includes nothing but some kind of fruit or vegetable juice, followed by a diet where new healthy items are added each day, usually simple fruits and vegetables.
Colonic cleansing, massage, acupuncture, sauna, and other important treatments that focus on motivating the body to lose toxins are an important part of the detox process. There are also some yoga positions that squeeze one’s internal organs and help in cleaning the entire body.
Clients who have spent seven days or more at a wellness center usually say they experience more energy, better sleep, as well as improved skin and eyes. Some places test the blood of their clients to show the improvement in its health.
When dreaming about your next journey to Costa Rica, you ought to research some of the wellness centers instead of the standard hotel chain. Like so many other people who have visited them, you will most likely return happier and healthier.
