The World’s Best Luxury Cruises

Feb-7-2010 By Sarah Van Rensburg

When it comes to luxury, bigger is not necessarily better. The larger cruise ships that sail the waters of the Caribbean have many of the luxuries that you look for in cruise travel, but they are not the most luxurious. If you’re looking for an intimate experience with all of the best amenities and service the industry has to offer you will have to look at ships that are a bit smaller, and perhaps sail some more remote seas to enjoy them.

Visit your travel agent and you’ll find a list of cruises you can go on yourself or take a partner or family along with you. The cruise industry has done well in their quest to create more affordable cruise holidays for working individuals and working class families, but some lines still offer that something extra. Your agent can set you up with a cruise that is a cut above average if you’re looking for it.

When the cruise industry first began, cruise liners were actually mail ships that carried passengers. Awards were given out for the best time that a ship could achieve crossing the Atlantic. Those ships were built with luxury in mind and catered to the rich. If you were a member of a working class family there was no chance you’d be able to book passage on one of them. Today, luxury cruises are still available but they are a choice, not the only option available.

The Mediterranean has always offered cruises that are the benchmark for luxury in the industry and the one hundred forty-eight passenger Wind Spirit out of Lisbon is no exception. While you’re in the region you might also want to travel over to Monte Carlo and book passage on Seven Seas Voyager, another intimate and luxurious cruise ship with much to do and see. The only ship in the western hemisphere that compares to it in accommodations and space per passenger is Silver Shadow out of San Francisco.

Not quite equal in comfort and accommodations to the Mediterranean but still a top destination to travel to on a cruise ship is the Mexican Riviera. If you’re going there, fly to San Diego and book a cruise vacation on Carnival Spirit, the finest US and Mexico based cruise ship on the West Coast. If you’re on the East Coast, the Queen Mary 2 is available for trans-Atlantic passage and she is truly the standard by which all cruise ship luxury is measured.

The hotel booking site, Hotwire.com, is one of my favorite sites to use when traveling. Among the deals I’ve received recently on Hotwire: InterContinental in Tampa, $99 over New Year’s Eve; Westin Jersey City, $129, at the end of January (neither price includes tax) Continue reading

Air ambulances are aircrafts that can be taken advantage of to reach a medical emergency situation where other more typical automotive ambulances are not able to. An air ambulance is also typically employed when imperative transfer to a hospital or medical specialist is called for. Emergencies can take place anytime, anywhere. There are times when the terrain is too unmanageable or too out of the question to travel via roads. An air ambulance permits medical care to get to the people in need very quickly. Continue reading
