You might be among the many people that simply don’t know what I mean when I say city break. I suppose the most effective way to describe it is a trip over a weekend or a couple available days to see a city to which you have never been before. Either never been to, or haven’t had the opportunity to appreciate it, anyway. The object is to sight see and appreciate everything.
Dublin, Ireland is a great city to start a city break. There is a lot to do and so many places to see. One of the first things you might want to consider doing is taking a guided tour and hear some of the history of the city, which is the capital of Ireland. Apart from the tour, there are two must-sees that you have to check out while in town.
One of these is the Dublin Castle. This impressive structure is a standing representation of the struggle that Ireland endured over a seven hundred year span to eventually gain their independence and freedom from the oppression of Old English rule. This is a great place for those who are not familiar with Irish history to learn a little something on the trip.
If you really want to experience Dublin, you have to check out the Guiness storehouse. This establishment is the place where the famous Guiness Irish Stout was created and where you can take a brief tour through 250 years that got the beer to where it is today. You will also find a free pint of the beer in your hands at the tour’s end, if you are interested in getting a true taste of Dublin.
