Some airline analysts and a few in the Federal Aviation Administration are worried that we can expect more airline crashes in the future due to the plummeting airline stocks that have lost significant altitude in 2008. But is this concern a reality? Some say yes, because the airlines will be cutting staff and streamlining operations and perhaps cutting costs on things that due indeed have to do with air safety.

Also we must consider that when employees of an airline have been laid off or fear losing their jobs, that they might be the next to receive a pink slip might be less inclined to care and perhaps not do their jobs perfectly. Mechanics are one very important part of a modern day airline, and keeping the planes in tip top shape is critical, but is there an issue here?

Will airlines forgo buying newer aircraft due to the cost cutting? Will airlines try to trim fuel costs by asking pilots to modify their flying and if so will pilots feel compelled to oblige? If pilots modify the way they fly and how they go about their flying will they get into less familiar situations where their expertise is not completely comfortable?

If airlines threaten to lay-off pilots will pilots not care as much, not take the job as serious? Will pilots not get the rest time they need or give less than 100% and if they are flying less does this mean they will be less proficient? What about Stewardesses, when cutting back on the number of stewardesses cause more fatigue, less caring and perhaps upset passengers? How about stewardesses who are not alert? Will they see a threat that comes aboard or be too busy to recognize suspicious behavior?

All these things are issues and challenges of the turbulent times ahead for the airlines. Something it is one at least some analysts minds. Perhaps you will consider this?
